I can not scan my drawing with Optical Registration.

DP0005: I can not scan my drawing with Optical Registration.

Digital Pro and Digital Pro Personal Learning Edition rely on the scanner's TWAIN driver, as long as this supports your OS it should work.
Assuming that the hardware setup is correct (including standard animation paper format), here is the procedure you can refer to while you are scanning with optical registration. The example uses 200 DPI.

1. Choose the correct DPI setting (200 in this case) and then the Image mode as ‘Black & White’, for example. Then click the Option button, the Option window opens.

2.  In the Option window, choose -90 degrees, since the peg is not on the bottom. You may however, use the left, right, top for the peg side depending on the orientation of the pegs.

3. Choose the images and then when you in the Scan Drawings dialog box, click “Edit Vectorization Parameters” for the optical registration settings.

Because we decided to have the pegs on the bottom for convenience, chose the bottom peg side option.

Make sure to enter the same DPI that you used for the scan. In our case, 200 DPI. The “Loose” option lets Digital Pro search a larger area for the peg hole,  giving you less chance of an Optical Registration error.

This should solve your peg recognition issues,  If you are still encountering problems, do the following:

  • Verify that the animation paper you are using is standard (check the peg hole location since using “Loose” option may help in certain cases).

  • Check the centre peg hole is round, clear and undamaged.

  • Are any pencil lines, markings or drawing number near or touching the peg holes on the animation paper, this can confuse the optical registration.
